!! Jodi Lee Parker !!
JODI LEE PARKER is a 4-piece guitar band from Birmingham, who have recently been gaining praise
in national media for their original sound, unique lyrical style and electrifying performances. Their music has been described as 'Indie-Disco Funkcore', due to its
fusion of indie, disco, funk and hardcore influences and has also become known for its choice of new lyrical topics, ranging from the
Rwandan genocide to disagreements between
superheroes and traffic wardens.

In a region famous for manufactured darkness, Jodi
Lee Parker are looking to provide a little
hand-made light.

Most of all, Jodi Lee Parker think music should be
listened to, not read about... so stop reading AND

!! Tommy G !!
Whilst such humble beginnings has stood him in good stead, the chance to bring his unique mix of acoustic guitar stylings to a wider audience cannot be ignored. Toms music has been described as “The Libertines put into a Bob Dylan blender….” and this quite aptly describes a musician who has been quietly paving his own unique sound in a scene where 'generic' can describe many acoustic guitar players.

15 Storeys High
The knack of writing great choruses is pivotal to the art of the popsong. Some people can get away without it, and still be great. James Brown springs to mind-his grooves were so deep, he didn’t even need songs or lyrics-just the occasional ‘good god!’ For the rest of us mortals, however, the ‘sticky’ refrain remains an ever-elusive goal. Before you run and have a shower, ‘sticky’ is a phrase coined by writers of American radio jingles. That’s your bad mind.

Let me share something with you, gentle reader. A few weeks ago, I was in a hep beatnik hangout in the Aigburth area watching a fine four-piece combo. They played a song, and when the chorus arrived, I nearly had a heart attack! The melody, a beautiful descending minor scale over a melancholic chord cycle is so addictive, I spent a week in The Priory at the expense of Liverpool.com attempting to recover from it. The song ‘My Love’ has now been recorded at Parr Street produced by the legendary Sonikk Bid, adorned with three part harmonies and latin-style horns, and I can only describe the result as the best Liverpool pop song since ‘There She Goes’-yes, that good.

Come here, there’s more. Fifteen Storeys High are disgustingly young, all early twenties, and like Ryan Babel, they are only going to get better, peel off the wing and score goals. Sorry, that’s where the analogy breaks down somewhat. Tom, Will and Si (vocals, guitar and bass respectively) are three brothers from the north end of our cultural capital, but Kev (drums) isn’t. Hey, it worked for the Beach Boys. But these boys have a set with more hooks than a Peter Pan convention. Check out insane country and West Indian hybrid ‘Out Of Control’ -Hank Williams meets Burning Spear and buys him a pint.

Finally, go and see them live before they are permanently ensconced on the enormodome circuit..

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. Theres also a negative side." -Hunter S. Thompson

ICA Launchpad Review (Steven Leighton)

28 Jacks
Probably heading the pack of the young, new and exciting bands coming through in The Highlands, Their take on a classic indie sound has won admirers everywhere and its no fluke, just pure talent, that has saw them support the likes of Tiny Dancers, The Rites and Jyrojets.

The 1990s gig review Inverness Courier 11.03.08 (Calum Macleod)

The weekend started on Thursday if the the attitude of the enthusiastically unrepressed crowd for the 1990s was anything to judge by. With good opening sets from Glasgows The Tide and Inverness own 28 Jacks whose catchy indie rock suggested they had drank deep from the same well of 1960s influences that served Oasis so well

About FAce
The band started in the summer months of 2004 with a common interest in music and similar levels of talent. At first we found it difficult to settle on a name, let alone a certain style of music. We eventually agreed on the name as it is now; About Face, which gave us confidence in ourselves as a band and allowed us to progress and confirm a style.
As yet we haven't played too many gigs, but we have involved ourselves in parties, school performances and private showings for friends/family. We managed to practise at least once a week during our school terms, but have recently found a lot more free time following our A level completion.
We don't really see what is in store for us, but plan to stay together and play music for as long as possible with as much commitment as possible. We are currently recording our songs and working on writing new ones, with the aim to play gigs/shows over the remaining time in the summer.
The website encapsulates us as a band so far; our successes and our general progression. The pictures and recordings are designed to give you some insight into what we are about. (Face)

AcoustikA
Hailing from Sydneys Northern Beaches, this original rock 5 piece is ready to be heard. Their music is ever changing and is an expression of the Bands emotion and experiences. To quote a review of AcoustikA's music that was recently featured in Sydney street press... "The music they create is unpredictable. What seemingly starts out as fairly straight heavy rock in one song jumps to frenetic punk in the next followed by stoner rock grooves or an anthem seventies sound."

With a reputation developing for their notorious AcoustikA rock parties that have best been described as a live music video and regularly feature cage dancers, pole dancers and fire breathers! AcoustikA is a band not to be missed!

Air Traffic Control
Personnel
Kirk Comstock (lead vocals/guitar)
Jordi Comstock (drums/vocals)
Luke Comstock (bass)

History
Brothers Kirk and Jordi were founding members of long-standing East Coast indie rockers, Madhat - a band they started while barely old enough to go outside without supervision. That outfit managed to release three joyous CDs of youthful rebellion as well as touring the country and finding their often self-produced videos on MuchMusic. They learned by doing and now they've grown up.

The New Story
Although Kirk and Jordi have always been the center of the action, other components of the band have been about as permanent as the harbour ice in their native Lunenburg. The ironic addition of Comstock cousin Luke has provided the necessary glue for a new permanence, a new mature sound and, ultimately, a new band. That band is Air Traffic Control. As the name suggests, it promises to put order to chaos and give these young but seasoned pros a definite flight plan for the future.

The New Record
Air Traffic Control, is the first release by this new line-up and was produced by the band in their home studio (Electro Land), the same space that cranked out Madhat's "To The World," easily one of the best records to come out of Canada's Atlantic provinces in recent memory.

The album has just been released by MapleNationWide/Universal and has garnered Air Traffic Control a nomination for new group of the year at the NSMW conference. The album's lead cut, "Feel Proud" is a great introduction to the new sound and has already found its way onto EA Sports' Rugby game for PlayStation2, Xbox and PC to the tune of 800,000 units and counting.

The sound is dynamic, the lyrics are thoughtful and the performance is rock-steady. The band is ready to face the nation. We hope you like it.

ANDY.K.NEWTON
my music began in 1996 when i was only 16,my influences where mansun and oasis because they where consistent with there music there a-sides were as good as there b-sides and thats what i wanted to be truly gifted at what i do, and i believe i am. ive over 1000 songs and i never run out of fuel,i get writers block now and again but thats normal, ive been in bands but the ego thing got me down, everyone in the bands i was in thought they could write, they where so in denial it was scary. I was in a band called reignmaker but they got rid of me because they thought they could get someone better iam not saying anything but the band split quite soon after they chucked me, so do you see how egos can get in the way of making great inventive music, plus the music in that band wasnt nothing special anyway, so i decided to do what i do best write songs my way,the thing about my music is i dont follow trends like the scene now,it started with the strokes then you had the libertines and so on,in my home town you have the paddingtons good luck to them, its just not my cup of tea,to be honest oasis and mansun were the only 2 bands that i looked forward to buying when there stuff came out i was on a right high i used to think oh i wonder what the b-sides are going to be like etc.i havent gigged any of my stuff yet because if i did a gig now i know who would come my mum my nanna my grandad and my best mate and our lass great night that would be,so iam just trying to get a bit of a fanbase going so when i do gig it will be worth it know what i mean harry.iam 26 and i have a 5 year old daughter called jasmin who is my life and it would be great to get signed because the money would help but its not the reason why i want to get signed, i just want to get respect for what iam best at, writing timeless songs everyone give me a listen, and give us a break. thanks for reading me,everyone take care all the best.....attack of the newtonite... MY FAVE FILMS.....fright night 1 and 2.vamp,all the nightmare on elm streets, all the gangster films out there, godfather, goodfellas etc,and loads more, that i cant be bothered to tell you.. AutoRun
December 2006 and AutoRun played its debut gig, an approximately 80 minute set of original material and a few hilarious cover attempts, a completely drunk set of rockstars and lots of warm bright lights.
Fans left that night witnessing a great gig, chanting 'AutoRun' and weirdly 'moby dick'.....was an experience to say the least.

Bloody Tourists
Listening to the music is like sitting on a wall on a council estate and listening in everybody’s kitchen windows and balconies at the chitter chatter and stories that are spoken. Drugs, prostitutes and the lads are the backdrop subjects to stories of love and loss that the BTs play and sing about. I say “play” because the bold and bluesy guitar licks are just as important as Lee’s vocals anyday, bringing the riff into purring effect and squeezing out thrilling solos. Put together, the sound resembles that of the lovechild of The Libertines and The White Stripes, with Liam Gallagher as an uncle. The music is refreshing in that it deals with less mainstream subjects and talks about real life the way Mike Skinner would do. I’m sure his rock band wouldn’t sound much different to this. Lee (vocals, bass), Jim (guitar) and Dave (drums) have a sound that you can’t refuse. It is as British as fish ‘n’ chips, as dirty as a door mat and has about as much attitude as Johnny Rotten’s long lost brother

Brad Kenstler
Brad Kenstler Releases Double CD Entitled "Just Go To Sleep"

"Just Go To Sleep" is a haunting melancholy into a ghostly ether, it teeters upon a revelation of hope within its balance of transcribed demons and soul embrace. Listen to its sweep in its entirety in a quiet place. In its mastery of depravity, within its percussive swirl, in its orchestration, philosophic technique, in its tenderly arranged ballad, in its will to reach you, let it, and you will, weep, as I did... or dance atop its Id.

(PRWEB) March 5, 2005 -- Brad Kenstler releases debut solo CD, a self-taught bassist, guitarist, and pianist started song writing and performing in Las Vegas in 1985, and thru numerous all original bands, winning the Battle of the Bands, gigs and touring, press coverage and radio play, self produced CD sales, and a diverse following, his experience as a songwriter and band leader became well known.

After 11 years of college at UNLV, from classical piano, classical guitar, jazz guitar, history, poetry, and finally music theory and composition, with an emphasis on advanced orchestration, his training resulted in a professional composer, arranger, and orchestrator, with numerous compositions under his belt, as well as a premiere composer's concert for orchestra, Kenstler's Solitude, conducted by Hanlon, and performed by the UNLV orchestra, and recorded by the resident engineer, Kurt Miller.

With a background like this, raised on Cat Stevens, Marty Robbins, Eddie Arnold, and Neil Diamond, from punk rock to classical composition, an articulate, melodic, harmonious, and almost tribal rhythmic texture, wholly original emerged, cultish, pure and lyrically superior. This body of music is a remarkable precious arrangement of haunting ballads and sweet lasting melody, an allegorical masterpiece, it truly is the Fine Art of Transcribing the Return , a universal philosophy chiselled into song.

Burn the Mona Lisa
Burn the Mona Lisa: to overthrow the over-rated. To produce a body of work that is as provocative, evocative and memorable as the moniker it's created under. To create a soundtrack to sing to, dance to, fuck to, dream to, and quit your job to.

B.t.M.L. have rapidly carved out a reputation for themselves as one of the most exciting bands currently blazing through England’s venues. Like most successful projects, it was all about waiting for the slots to fall into place. As members of 'amigo', Nick, Mark and Rob had spent years honing their sound in venues around the North West, never quite obtaining the elusive 'x-factor' that marks the difference between the good and the great.

With the departure of a key member came the opportunity to go back to the drawing board and start again - new direction, new line up, renewed sense of purpose. With the arrival of Simon in February 2004 came a shot in the arm for the group and it soon became undeniable that they'd found the perfect chemistry.

“There’s a well deserved buzz around these compadres…a cult following at least beckons, huge sales entirely possible.” John Earls - Channel 4 Teletext
Ambitions are great for the release of ‘PLASTIC POP’ (Gazelle Records). Recorded at Blueprint studios in Manchester on a tight budget, the disk was finished in 24 hours and we're more than happy with the results. The cd will be available through all good independent record shops from Monday October 25th.

“This is a band definitely on the verge of bigger things…. its only got to be a matter of time” ukmusicsearch.co.uk

“Perfect–There’s no escaping the originality and possibilities of this fresh faced outfit…They have the songs to feed even the greediest labels.” Manchester Music.co.uk

Captive State
From its earliest days, Captive State has been a collective where each individual musician brings his own influences and style to the music. With these influences, the progression of songs has evolved, producing a sound which fuses beat-driven melodies with electronica and acoustica, all powered by the catchy hooks and soulful lyrics that Captive State have developed in the live arena and in the studio. The sound is big, layered, epic at times, and now has a new slant with the addition of a guitarist to the line up.

The origins of Captive State can be traced to a nondescript house in Brixton, South London, where in 2003 Tom Bootle and Joseph Kennedy began a project with no name, but with ideas, visions and goals. And amazing beats. Gathering together a host of talented London and Oxford musicians, they unveiled the project at Oxfordshire’s Truck Festival in summer 2003 to rave reviews.

Their project had quickly become a real living, breathing and dancing beast that needed a name. The social conscience and politicised lyrics that drove the band in those early days quickly led them to George Monbiot’s 2001 book ‘Captive State’, and its description of the ever-increasing corporate takeover of the British state. The name seemed to fit and struck a chord with early audiences, and it has stayed with the band.

The Captive State image began to take shape at the same time, when the band’s very own artist in residence Mr Tom Uglow designed the running man logo. Like the name, the image stuck. The Captive State man can be shaped and moulded to represent the many sides of life described by Captive State’s music. But he’s always running.

Extensive gigging in London, Oxford, Southampton, Edinburgh and Brighton has impressed audiences and developed a truly mouth watering live set. Right now the long awaited album No. 1 is coming to the boil in Whitechapel, for release this autumn on Duff Records. The running man is getting faster. Can you keep up?

Clownprince are not your run of the mill, average four-piece band.
Since arriving on the Wigan music scene, a little over a year ago. This curious quartet has established themselves as one of the most exciting and notorious on the Wigan music scene. Their influences range the dulcet tones of Johnny Mathis, to the sneer and brutality of the sex pistols. They describe their style of music as council house. Clownprince’s song writing encapsulates all aspects of life as viewed by people born on the wrong side of the tracks. CODA
CODA formed in March of 2004 and they have been gigging heavily in and around Northern Ireland ever since, honing there live shows to experiences of pure tense energy delivered with an urgency and passion.

CODA members are:
Julianne Shawe – Guitar & vocals
Matt Crothers - Drums
Gareth Scott - Bass
Chris McCorry- Guitar

All four members have vastly differing musical tastes but share a passion for heart felt melodies and sparkling guitar interplay coupled with urgent and driving riffs which complement the unique female vocals of frontwoman Julianne Shawe.

Their alternative brand of rock finds its roots in influences such as Sleater Kinney, Bloc Party, Skunk Anansie, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Cure, At The Drive In and Sonic Youth.

Throughout 2004/2005 the band have gigged extensively with numerous headlining slots at several prominent Belfast venues such as The Limelight, Mandela Hall, Auntie Annies, and most recently, The Empire.

The band were also invited to take part in Belfast’s annual ‘Belfest’ festival which celebrates the finest in Northern Irish artists.

The rising profile of the band also led to them being recently asked to support Sub-Pop’s Sleater Kinney at their sold out show in Belfast’s Spring and Airbrake in August 2005.

This was followed closely by an explosive show supporting Domino Record’s Sons & Daughters in Belfast’s Limelight in November of 2005.

“Their music is a satisfying blend of melody and hard guitar power, and frontwoman Julianne Shawe ably demonstrates an oft-elusive ability to weave her vocals over riffs that could easily drown out a lesser voice”
- Gavin Bell – The Big List magazine

CODA have recently recorded a two song demo featuring one new track 'End of the line' and a remixed and reworked version of live favourite 'Not Enough'.

coloured dreams
The coloured dreams are Tam Cassidy and Kevin McGowan; they grew up and still live in the gritty working class area of Alloa and have been performing and writing together since they were kids. Although this duet has used various back line arrangements, they have endured through over 13 years of playing together which has seen them form a strong friendship and songwriting partnership, they have done the club circuit firstly in their home town, then other areas of Scotland, then England, in places such as the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone and went on to tour Europe 3 times on a circular rout from Lille in the North of France to Nice and Antibes in the South, to Switzerland and Luxembourg through to Holland and Belgium. Over the last few years they have been finalists in many song-writing competitions including the Daily Records Big Break and the Falkirk Big Day event. The current line up has Martin Bond on bass and Alan Huntley on drums, both are seasoned musicians that have played in many bands with lots of experience behind them. After the first practice they all knew this was the beginning of something special, the music fell into place straight away. They are now going to take there songs and show on the road, they are also going to record some more songs, Tam and Kev have been writing since they first got together so they have a backlog of songs to work with. These guys are at their most comfortable in life when they are on stage and pour every ounce of their emotion into live performances in a way that makes the audience feel their passion for what they do. They perform together in a manner that can only be accounted to the work they have put in through the years. They have chemistry between them that others try to emulate but which can only be something one is born with, all this mixed with their humour and their charm and you have the coloured dreams

Lead guitar - Ant Kilburn
Drums/backing vocals - Logan Jory
Bass - Toby Leston

--------------------------------

We have two types of genre which we play, one which is an indie/rock based feel with influences from e.g RHCP, Cribs. The other genre we play is at a faster tempo, with a more Forward Russia! feel.

We are looking to get onto the gigging circuit as soon as possible (Summer 2007), having played one gig at the famous Joiners in Southampton, and having to decline an invitation back for other commitments.

Copper Pilot
Copper Pilot have been based in Ipswich for the past 2 years, creating the unique sound you hear from them today. They’ve been described as many different styles of rock, from indie and pop to emo. This style is influenced by a range of past and present bands from varying genres. Copper Pilot are 4 young men who met at high school, and through a mutual respect for well thought out, catchy rock music, formed a band. Melody is an important aspect of their song writing and they appreciate the power of a good ‘hook’, alongside interesting sections which keep listeners coming back for more.
With many local gigs under their belts, and even more elsewhere in the UK, Copper Pilot find that playing live is the most rewarding aspect of being in a band. They have a well earned reputation for an outstanding live show which is considered by fans and promoters to well surpass their studio recordings. The band are willing to work on a full-time basis in order to achieve their goals.

Dave is Dead
Ad met Ed at school through a mutual friend to whom Ad had taught Wild Thing and who in turn had shown Ed the chords. They got on because they both liked the Beatles. It seems quite chancy till you realise that the chords to the Troggs classic are A-D-E-D! They vowed to call any future musical collaboration Dead in order that Orwell could humorously(?) be quoted at gigs (we are the dead!) Theirs is an off and on relationship that has endured for years. Unable to pursue the Wild Thing coincidences due to the limited chance of finding a drummer called G6 and Ed being, as it transpired temporarily, in Reading, Ad found Dave to drum. They got on because they both liked early Suede. When Ed returned, a new band was inevitable. Ed got on with Dave cause they both liked Morrissey and golf!. Around this time Ad had a dream that Dave drowned which was close to what actually happened in the Caribbean. The band somehow needed a name that meant something to all of them! After a while Dave Is Dead asked Bryn to join and contribute guitar stabs. He said yes and ended up contributing much more with the added bonus of lowering the average age of Dave Is Dead to 25!

How it all started...
I was born and raised in the Czech Republic. I started playing my first instrument when I was about 10 years old. I remember watching TV with my mother one evening when I saw band playing a live gig. I started to pretend to play the guitar on my mum’s hand. She then asked me, “Do you want to learn? Would you like a guitar?” So the very next day I had my first guitar. Both of my parents always supported me in everything I wanted to do and music was no different. My mum comes from a very music orientated family where everyone plays several instruments and I think that’s where I got my passion for playing.
When I got my first guitar, my mum showed me couple of chords herself that she remembered and that’s how I started to learn. I remember being taken to a music institute in my old town, Turnov, Czech Republic where I was examined by the head master himself. I was told my fingers are way too small and that I would never be able to play. It was a pretty big disappointment at that age but here I am 15 years later I am able to play guitar no problem.
Two weeks before my 17th birthday my parents decided that life in the Czech Republic was not the right fit for our family. So we were off to the United Kingdom. At first it was a nightmare. I didn’t know one word of English and, to say the least, it was a struggle. After a couple months, I joined a high school band where my younger brother attended high school. That gave me a chance of not only learn how to speak English but also try and play other instruments that I couldn’t afford to have when I was in the Czech Republic. As the years passed I slowly taught myself how to play drums, piano, and bass.
Not so long ago in 2007, thanks to my good friend Terry Lister, I was able to start recording and producing some of my own music after he bought some music equipment for me to record on. I have learned allot from trial and error with always more t
