Sam on Phoenix Motorcade
Went to see Phoenix Motorcade on Saturday at the Dirty Riders Club in Kilburn. They were rocking- all the best bits of Led Zep mixed with The Who, with huge rock riffs that would fit sweaty little clubs or huge stadiums.
Considering it was a venue that was in the heart of London's uber cool Rock Community, they blew the other bands off stage. The mixture was amazing- raw torch-light vocals, incredible Jimmy Page-esque guitar work, Bass guitarist who looked like he was straight from New York, and a Drummer who gave Mitch Mitchell a run for his money. Add to this they performed as if they were playing to Glastonbury Festival on Saturday night, and the industry is staring a huge Rock band in the face.
But the songs are what gave them the edge. Real hooks without sounding cheesy, proper solos, audible vocals-they played heavy, but with tunes. You have got to see this band-they will blow you away. Heard they have a bit of label interest- suprised they are not signed already.
Get hold of a demo and go see them play. I'll be at the Box on Friday (Chelmsford) and the gig at Farringdon, Betsey Trotwood on the 28th. GET THIS BAND SIGNED!
