Alex Lloyd Moves To Sony BMG

Alex Lloyd will record his next album for Sony BMG.

Lloyd, one of Australia's most respected singer/songwriters has sold more than 500,000 albums in the country with his three solo albums, has won three ARIA Awards and one APRA Award.

"After much deliberation, thought and discussion in regards to my new home as a singer songwriter, I am extremely positive about my decision to move to Sony BMG" Lloyd said in a statement. "Change can be scary but at the same time exciting and after talking with Denis Handlin and the A&R team, I feel as though Sony BMG is the best place for me to start this new chapter in my career. I look forward to meeting and working with the rest of the team at Sony BMG, new people and new ideas for this exciting phase of my career. "

It was a turbulent year for Lloyd, who is now managed by his wife Ameilia. During 2004, he departed with his long-time manager Bill Cullen and One Louder Management and then later in the year announced he was leaving EMI Records, the label which released his three solo albums.

Sony Music had an incredible year with singer songwriter Pete Murray. The label is also the home of Delta Goodrem and Something for Kate,

About the signing Chairman & CEO of Sony BMG Music Entertainment Australia & NZ, Denis Handlin said "I have enormous respect for Alex and have admired his music for many years. This is a significant signing for Sony BMG and I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with Alex and introduce his exciting new songs to the public".

Lloyd will record his 4th solo album early in 2005 in the USA.
