Embrace of the city
The band, from Brighouse, celebrated their return to the Top 10 with a tea-time concert at the city centre branch of HMV.
Hundreds of people squeezed into the store last night to watch frontman Danny McNamara and co perform a string of songs from their hotly-tipped new album, Out Of Nothing.
Others, unable to secure a spot in the shop, gathered outside on Lands Lane to listen to a set that also included old favourites Come Back To What You Know and All You Good Good People. The band played in the section devoted to artists whose names begin with the letter "E" - although, as they ruefully observed to laughter from the crowd, there was a distinct lack of Embrace albums on the shelves.
One of the biggest cheers of the evening was reserved for current single Gravity, written by Coldplay star Chris Martin.
It sailed into the charts last week at number seven, ending a two-year spell out of the limelight for the group.
They are now preparing to embark on a tour of more orthodox venues which includes a show at Leeds University on Tuesday, November 16.
