Knee High Drive By: Passing Breath EP
More emo-core here (whatever the fuck that means) this time from
Colchester. Pleasant enough, especially on opener "Passing Breath"
with its direct lift of a Helmet riff but the momentum isn't really
maintained and things fall as flat as a witch's tit by the time the
rest of this aural slop is played out. Still, judging by the
youthfulness they exude, things are bound to get better. Keep
listening to those Helmet records, dudes…

Kate Walsh - Clocktower Park
Kate Walsh hails from Burnham on Crouch. She used to work in a factory
there and hated living in the area. Well love, try living in Pitsea or
Canvey Island or fucking Vange THEN you'll have something to moan
about. This is a collection of ultra-maudlin, 'tastefully produced',
coffee table approved singer/songwriter fare which would appeal to
those that think Coldplay are 'soulful' or who brought the last Gemma
Hayes LP when their boyfriend/girlfriend dumped them.
Go and join her in her 'pain':

Killing Moon: I Never Stopped / Isabelle / Feel the Shame
There is an atrocious Brit Pop vibe about this collection on songs
by Killing Moon. The singer sounds like he’s trying to be Jarvis
Cocker with his “bloody hell I’m English mate” accent. There are
moments that are nice amongst these tunes; 'Isabelle' has well a put
together 4-chord verse, 'Feel the Shame' hurries along nicely in a
minor key kind of way but the hint of Pulp just won't go away. I say
hint, I do mean overtly intrusive splat of Jarvis Cocker style vocal.
This is an Indie-schmindie genre-retrospect of the worst period in
guitar music: 1994 – 1997. If you sport a funny mop, wear pinstripe
trousers and Adidas Gazelles, then go keep the nightmare alive:
