The Manze: The Manze
Self titled album by The Manze – but wait, they’ve recently split up! What we are left with then is this futile 6-track soft rock mini album. It’s all rather too middle of the road for my liking, lyrics like “Is it vodka or wine? Either is fine” and “We played some pool and that was cool” is hardly “cool” at all. The songs are watertight and sound like they’re produced by David Grays’ lot, evoking images of Chris Rea and Brian Adams (unfavourable images to my mind). I’m sure Hardcore Manze fans will disagree, but if you like your rock music on the easy listening tip then go forth and savour the flavour. If you are not a cheeseman then perhaps you shouldn’t feel too concerned by the split. After all; members Ewan, Toby, Ben and Graham can be found performing in other bands or embarking on their solo projects around Essex, and I hear on the grapevine that Rich is thinking of starting a funk band which will probably be just as good, stroke bad. Mohair - 'End of the Line'
Mohair is a band to be listening out for. A happy, sunny feeling nice to be played on such a gloomy day. Compared somewhere between The Doors and The Beetles it is luck that Mohair have such a big sound or they would be left miles behind. Small Talk is due for release in 2006 and promise to take the listener on a journey of sunshine and shadow.

Matt Park

Matt Park's demo CD is in the absolute rawest of forms and the first in mini cds we have had (didn't realise you can still get them). OK.... Good things to say about this is a tricky one I really am afraid to say but would like to hear down the line once it has been recorded professionally. Keep it going Matt, but don't hold your breath for a record deal any time soon.

Mr Happy Chainsaw

Updated review 5th Nov 05. I was confused before playing their CD. The graphics on their CD looked like some serious head banging Death Metal but then again they are called 'Happy' so had no idea what to expect (luckily my memory is only lasts 1 week as they have been reviewed before)!
What I would say is stick track 2 as number 1! It rocks a lot more. I think with a good crowd their gigs would be a violently enjoyable. Track 3 slowed mellowed shows the vocalist can actually sing pretty good as well! Keep it up guys.

Original Review:
Music in its rawest of forms. 8 track recording but even though this is far from polished it is nice to hear early demo material from fresh up-and-coming group. Keep it up guys. I don’t think you will be getting signed in the next few weeks, but definitely along the right lines. We would like to hear how these guys progress so keep your material coming in.

Track uploaded to Record Scout’s MP3 player.

M-TECH!

Slow starting on the first track and still not sure what to expect. We are guessing it will kick right in any second now.... Obviously we do not know what to expect and our only expectation comes from the artwork. Track 1, nicely produced, didn't kick in like we thought it would, but track 2 State of the Mind certainly does and things pick up throughout the CD. If I am to compare M-Tech is would be to early Prodigy in the making. I think get this on at Turnmills and things will be going down nicely!
